Bruno Mars jokes about gambling debt rumors

Bruno Mars responded with humor to the rumors that he owes $50 million in gambling debt.

Earlier in 2023, reports claimed that the Locked Out of Heaven singer had accumulated debts exceeding $50 million at the Park MGM Las Vegas casino, where he holds a successful music residency.

On Tuesday, Bruno playfully addressed the speculation while celebrating a historic milestone—becoming the first artist to reach 150 million monthly listeners on Spotify.

He shared the news on his Instagram Stories, joking:

"Keep streaming! I’ll be out of debt soon," adding a dancing emoji.

The Uptown Funk star had also indirectly referenced the rumors last year when he reposted a TikTok video of someone dancing to his duet with Lady Gaga, Die With a Smile, with the caption:

"Lady Gaga going to get Bruno Mars out of debt."

At the time, an MGM Resorts International spokesperson denied the claims, stating:

"MGM’s partnership with Bruno is long-standing and built on mutual respect. Any other speculation is completely false; he has no debt with MGM. Together, we continue to create unforgettable experiences for our guests."

Bruno Mars Reacts to the Rumors

In June 2024, during an interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Bruno was asked if he wanted to address the rumors.

Laughing, he replied:

"Absolutely not! I love the myth that I’m a Vegas lounge singer who owes money to the mafia. I can work with that!"

Bruno Mars first launched his Park MGM residency in 2016 and has returned annually, with major show runs in 2021, 2023, and 2024.

Earlier this week, it was announced that he will return for seven more shows in May and June 2025.
