Beyoncé sang "Be Alive" at the start of the 2022 Oscars

Beyoncé opened the 2022 Academy Awards on Sunday night with a tribute to tennis legends Venus and Serena Williams.

Beyoncé's appearance was presented at the famous tennis courts that took their name "in the heart of beautiful Compton, where we really became professional athletes", as the sisters said in the preface to the appearance.

Of course, Beyoncé performed "Be Alive", her song for the movie "King Richard" starring Will Smith, which refers to the Williams sisters.

The show began with Beyoncé dancers, dressed in green tennis ball suits, walking down a street in Compton, Los Angeles, to the stadium, passing in front of the low-rider cars that became world famous in Dr.'s videos. Dre and Snoop Dogg in the 1990s.

The spectacle was then taken to the tennis court, where Beyoncé, on a small platform, was accompanied by dozens of dancers and musicians, with her daughter Blue Ivy dancing in front.

The location, where Venus and Serena Williams rehearsed in their youth under the watchful eye of their father, played by Will Smith in the biopic "King Richard" - was the perfect Oscar setting for the song.

The "Lueders Park" stadiums were officially renamed "Venus and Serena Williams Court of Champion" in 2016.

It should be noted that Will Smith won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his starring role in the film "King Richard".

Beyoncé's song "Be Alive", which is heard in the end titles of the film, captures the struggle and perseverance of Venus and Serena Williams, with her lyrics praising pride, self-confidence and love for family.

"I feel so beautiful, so beautiful / I have my whole family by my side / And we will sit on top of the world again / I could not erase this Black even if I tried / And I would not change anything / So I raise it my head with pride ".

Beyoncé has been close to the Williams family for many years.

Serena Williams made an appearance in Beyoncé's music video for the song "Sorry" in 2016. That same year, the singer and her husband JAY-Z watched the tennis star play in the U.S. Open at Wimbledon as well.

This was Beyoncé's fourth time appearing at the Oscars.

At the 2005 awards ceremony he performed three of the five songs nominated for Best Original Song, "Learn to Be Lonely" by The Phantom of the Opera, "Believe" by The Polar Express (which performed with Josh Groban) and "Vois sur ton chemin (Look to Your Path)" by The Chorus (with American Boychoir).

In 2007, she sang three Academy Award-nominated songs from "Dreamgirls" with Jennifer Hudson, her co-star in the film, which won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance. Beyoncé and Jennifer Hudson joined forces to sing "Love You I Do" and "Listen" and sang "Patience" with Keith Robinson and Anika Noni Rose.

In 2009, Beyoncé accompanied that year's Oscar host, Hugh Jackman, and several other stars in a medley that honored film musicals. The tribute was also attended by Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Amanda Seyfried and Dominic Cooper.
