Barack Obama performs "Lose Yourself" following Eminem's introduction at rally

Barack Obama surprised the crowd by rapping *Lose Yourself* after being introduced by Eminem at a political rally on Tuesday night.

The event, held in Detroit, Michigan, was aimed at rallying support for Democratic candidate Kamala Harris ahead of the 2024 U.S. presidential election, where Harris is running against Republican candidate Donald Trump. Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, introduced the former president, setting the stage for an unexpected moment.

As Obama took the podium, he opened his speech by quoting lyrics from Eminem’s iconic 2002 hit *Lose Yourself*. "I’ve done a lot of rallies, so I don’t usually get nervous. But I was feeling some kind of way following Eminem," Obama said, then added, "I noticed, my palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy, vomit on my sweater already, mom’s spaghetti."

The crowd erupted in applause as Obama continued, rapping, "I’m nervous but on the surface I look calm and ready, to drop bombs but I keep on forgetting..." He concluded the playful moment by repeating the opening lines and adding, "Love me some Eminem."

During his own speech, Eminem urged the audience to vote, emphasizing the importance of using their voice in this pivotal election. "The city of Detroit and the whole state of Michigan mean a lot to me," Eminem said. "Going into this election, the spotlight is on us more than ever, and I think it’s important to use your voice, so I’m encouraging everybody to get out and vote, please."

The rapper, a long-time critic of Donald Trump, expressed his support for Kamala Harris and her running mate, Tim Walz, saying, "I think Vice President Harris supports a future for this country where these freedoms and many others will be protected and upheld."

The 2024 U.S. presidential election will take place on November 5.
