"I like change and challenges."
Anitta has stated that she will "definitely" retire from her singing career within the next six years
The Brazilian singer, who is up for Best New Artist at the 2023 Grammy Awards on Sunday, February 5, said in a new interview that she is too ambitious to stick with one career.
Reflecting on a decade of hard work to break out into the world, Anitta told Billboard that she will "definitely, definitely" be looking for new opportunities.
Anitta said she likes "changes, challenges and trying new things" and added that she is looking forward to starting to develop her acting career, claiming that she has already received offers to star in several films.
The 29-year-old singer also touched on her music career, which took off in the US last year with the release of her fifth album 'Versions Of Me' and the single 'Envolver', which topped Spotify's global chart.
"I really wanted this because I heard so many times that it was impossible and I wanted to prove that it wasn't, that someone can do this."
Anitta recalled the days she spent in Brazil struggling to make a career. When confronted with the argument that Brazilians cannot cross into America, she said she simply "couldn't accept it."
She finally succeeded and her fans back home "are extremely happy".
"They support me a lot, whenever 'Envolver' started getting really big in the Brazilian charts, the Brazilians saw it and said, 'If you love your nation, you have to play this song.' When he was No. 1 worldwide, that was a celebration,” commented Anitta.
Elsewhere in the Billboard interview, Anitta recounted the time in her life when she would perform in Brazil on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, then travel to the US to network during the work week, before returning to Brazil to give concerts on the weekend.
He accomplished all of this while taking English classes and studios in English to get used to recording in the language. "It was crazy," she said, adding that she was "very tired."
