SZA: 'Beyoncé is so much bigger than a Grammy'

Beyoncé declared her support for Beyoncé.

SZA talked about her meteoric rise from alternative R&B star to pop phenomenon, but what stood out was her statement about her new album 'SOS' and the Grammy Awards.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, SZA said she doesn't want to speculate about her fate at next year's awards, for fear of a Beyoncé-like outcome at this year's awards ceremony.

Beyoncé, who was nominated for Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Album of the Year, failed to win any awards in those categories.

Nevertheless, Beyoncé received four awards in the R&B and Dance/Electronic categories of the event and became the artist with the most Grammy Awards in history, reaching 32 awards in her career.

"Beyoncé is way bigger than a goddamn Grammy," SZA has now declared.

“It's Beyoncé! He's done it for women, he's done it for black people, he's done it for artists. She's done so much for the world just by being herself," he continued.

SZA also addressed the issue of rampant misogyny in the music industry.

"I was tired and angry. I feel like men put women in music so much, it's trivial," she said.

"Women sell too much in music! A lot of you who talk down about women – we sell more records than you. We're literally making more money," he noted.

SZA also weighed in on the extreme misogyny that Megan The Stallion has been facing for nearly two years — ever since she was shot in the leg by Tory Lanez and the lawsuit that followed.

"Why did we demand so much from Megan to feel compassion for her?" asked the 33-year-old singer.

“It was inhumane how it all turned out, with the strange level of control over her sex life. But justice was served. I hope Megan is getting treatment somewhere,” SZA said, referring to the fact that Tory Lanez was found guilty of assault and faces up to 22 years in prison.
