Shakira Announces New Single 'Monotonía' Featuring Ozuna

Shakira's new single is out next week.

Shakira collaborates with Ozuna on her new song

The Colombian singer has been heralding the release of her new song by posting a series of cryptic messages on social media over the past few days, with fans now curious to know the meaning of 'Monotonía' which will be the title of her next single.

"Monotonía" will be released on Wednesday, October 19, Shakira revealed on Sunday on her official social media accounts, where she posted a short audio clip of the song.

"A little king with a big queen," Ozuna commented on Shakira's Instagram post.

In the past few days, Shakira, who confirmed her split from Spanish footballer Gerard Piqué in June and recently said she was going through "the hardest, darkest period of her life", had piqued the curiosity of her fans by posting on social media a puzzling phrase that turns out to be from the lyrics of her new song.

"It wasn't your fault / it wasn't me / it was the monotony," she said in one of her posts.

"Monotonía" will follow Shakira's successful collaboration with Rauw Alejandro on the single "Te Felicito" released in April. The song has over 368 million views on YouTube and 338 million streams on Spotify

Shakira was planning to return with a new album this year, but has yet to confirm a release date. Late last month he admitted that the album is going to be delayed.

“I thought the album was finished. But every time I go into the studio to fix a lyric or to mix a song that's almost ready to be released, I end up with new songs, because right now I'm feeling creative," Shakira wrote in Spanish in an Instagram post .

With even more new music on the horizon, her fans are especially excited for 'Monotonía' featuring Puerto Rican singer and rapper Ozuna.
