Spanish superstar Rosalía will be the first headliner of Release Athens X SNF Nostos on Tuesday, June 20.
At the end of every successful concert, we all always want more. This is exactly what is going to happen this summer through the explosive collaboration between Release Athens and SNF Nostos of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF). Get ready for more headliners, more stages, more music.
Release Athens x SNF Nostos takes place on June 20, 21 and 23 and brings big names from the world and Greek scene to two stages, in Water Square and the Clearing of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), being at the same time an integral part of Release Athens 2023.
With the support of the SNF, on these three days the ticket will be even more affordable with access to both stages.
Soon, more names will be announced, both for this particular day (June 20) and for the two more that will follow.
Rosalía, the absolute pop icon of our days, is coming to Athens for the first time on Tuesday, June 20, at the Water Square, to prove to us on stage that she represents everything that modern pop strives to be: a bold sound mix without seals and a willingness to overcome every cultural and musical border.
Blending the traditional rhythms of flamenco, salsa and bachata with reggaeton, hip hop and R&B, Rosalía stunned unsuspecting listeners with 'El Mal Querer' (2018), a genius album that with one foot in mainstream pop and the other in avant-garde.
The result was an absolute triumph that swept the Latin Grammy Awards and was included in Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, ranking highest among all Spanish-language records.
In 2022 and with all eyes on her, Rosalía released the masterpiece album 'Motomami', which was hailed by all major music media as groundbreaking and rightfully topped every list of the best records of the year.
Having already collaborated with some of the biggest names in modern music, including The Weeknd, Billie Eilish, Pharrell, J Balvin, Travis Scott, and Cardi B, Rosalía is set to sweep the biggest music festivals on the planet with scheduled appearances at Coachella, Lollapalooza, Primavera and Rock Werchter, among many others.
On Tuesday, June 20, at Water Square, get ready for a show that the New York Times called: “One of the best shows we've seen in the last five years. Rosalía is a global pop icon of the magnitude of Beyoncé and Rihanna."
It has hosted very big names of the world music scene in the previous years, such as Iggy Pop, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Slipknot, PJ Harvey, Pet Shop Boys, Judas Priest, Jamiroquai, London Grammar, Alice In Chains, Parov Stelar, Sigur Ros, Damian Marley, Liam Gallagher, Richard Ashcroft, among many more.
Release Athens returns for the 6th time with an even bigger lineup and with its motto "Making Memories Together", faithful to the principle that has governed it since the first day: Artists, audience and contributors to the festival shape, all together, the unique experiences and the memories that will accompany us forever.
The music program is just one of the aspects of the SNF Nostos multi-collective open event of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), which this year takes place from June 20 to 23 at the SNFCC, on the topic of Mental Health.
As every year, the program includes the SNF Dialogues, the SNF Nostos Conference, the evening race SNF Nostos Run, as well as a parallel artistic program. Learn more about 2023 SNF Nostos at snfnostos.org.
