Ricky Martin was accused of having an affair with his 21-year-old nephew.
Ricky Martin's nephew dropped the charges against the singer at a court appearance on July 21, effectively closing the case.
 
Ricky Martin's lawyers, Joaquín Monserrate Matienzo, Carmelo Dávila and Harry Massanet Pastrana, issued a statement regarding the withdrawal of allegations against the 50-year-old singer, who was accused of having an affair with his 21-year-old nephew.

"Just as we expected, the temporary restraining order was not extended by the court," his lawyers said.

"The complainant confirmed in court that his decision to withdraw the case was his alone, without any outside influence or pressure, and the complainant confirmed that he was satisfied with his legal defense in the case," they continued.
 
"The request came from the complainant who was asking for the case to be dismissed. He was never anything more than a troubled individual making false claims with absolutely nothing to back them up,” they noted.

"We are pleased that our client has seen justice served and can now move on with his life and career," they concluded.

In early July, it was reported that a restraining order had been issued against Ricky Martin.

Initial reports said the person who filed the petition for the restraining order claimed to have been in a seven-month relationship with the singer, but after they broke up two months ago, spotted the star "at least three times" outside his home.

Ricky Martin's reps immediately denied the claims, saying at the time that the singer, who has been married to Jwan Yosef since 2017, would be "fully vindicated."

On July 13, Ricky Martin's brother Eric revealed that the singer's nephew was behind the allegations, raising the charges to a crime of incest, which carries a 50-year prison sentence.

Marty Singer, another of Ricky Martin's lawyers, said at the time: “Unfortunately, the person who made this claim is struggling with serious mental health issues. Ricky Martin, of course, never had - and never would have - any sexual or romantic relationship with his nephew. The accusation is not only untrue, but also disgusting."
