When Olivia Rodrigo released her debut album in May 2021, it was hard to predict how far the young singer-songwriter would go.
A year later, 'Sour' has gone triple platinum in the US alone, topped charts around the world and set a truly unparalleled record.
Olivia Rodrigo's 'Sour' has completed 52 weeks in the Billboard 200's Top 10, surpassing Lady Gaga's feat with her debut album, 'The Fame', which has spent a total of 51 weeks in the Top 10 chart from 2009 to 2017.
"Sour" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in June 2021 and dominated for five non-consecutive weeks at the top of the chart.
The album spawned four Top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100: "Drivers License" (No. 1 for eight weeks), "Deja Vu" (No. 3), "Good 4 U" (No. 1 for one week) and "Traitor" (No. 9).
Olivia Rodrigo closed out 2021 by winning Top New Artist and Top Female Artist on the Billboard charts, while the album 'Sour' finished at No. 2 on the annual Billboard 200 chart for 2021.
The 19-year-old pop star also took home three awards at the 2022 Grammy Awards in April: Best New Artist, Best Pop Album (for 'Sour') and Best Pop Solo Performance (for 'Drivers License') .
Olivia Rodrigo then was the big winner of the 2022 Billboard Music Awards night in May, winning seven awards, including Top Billboard 200 Album (with 'Sour'), ââTop New Artist, as well as the Top Female Artist.
In total, "Sour" has sold the equivalent of 3.7 million albums in the United States as of June 23, according to Luminate.
Olivia Rodrigo's 'Sour' was also the second highest-selling album (2.86 million) in the US in 2021 and the second best-selling album worldwide, according to IFPI, behind Adele's '30'.
