The 2022 MTV VMAs will be hosted by three hip-hop heavyweights.
LL Cool J, Nicki Minaj and Jack Harlow will host the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards.
MTV announced on Thursday, August 18 that LL Cool J, Nicki Minaj and Jack Harlow will introduce and emcee the big moments during the awards ceremony, which is scheduled to take place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on Sunday, 28 August.
According to the announcement, LL Cool J, Nicki Minaj and Jack Harlow will announce the artists performing on stage, the names of the big names presenting the awards and the winners, while taking a "more innovative and unique approach" ” in the traditional form of the presentation of the evening.
This will be the first time in 35 years that the MTV Video Music Awards will have more than two co-hosts.
The event was presented by a group of MTV VJs in 1986 ("Downtown" Julie Brown, Mark Goodman, Alan Hunter, Martha Quinn and Dweezil Zappa) and 1987 (Brown, Carolyne Heldman, Michael Tomioka, Zappa and Kevin Seal).
LL Cool J won his first award at the MTV Video Music Awards in 1991 and in 1997 was honored with the “Michael Jackson” Video Vanguard Award.
Nicki Minaj, who has won five awards at the event, is the artist who will receive this year's prestigious Video Vanguard Award, while she is also in the running for Best Hip-Hop Video.
Jack Harlow is one of the artists with the most nominations (7) at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards and is scheduled to make his first solo appearance at the awards since last year's debut alongside Lil Nas X.
MTV Video Music Awards 2022 will feature Anitta, BLACKPINK, J Balvin, Jack Harlow, Lizzo, Måneskin, Marshmello x Khalid, Nick Minaj and Panic! At The Disco, while Kane Brown will headline the Toyota Stage.
More artists are expected to be announced in the coming days.
