Coldplay to appear on FC Barcelona jersey in new Spotify collaboration

Coldplay will be featured on FC Barcelona's shirts for an upcoming match, thanks to a collaboration with the club's sponsor, Spotify. The design will showcase a logo inspired by their new album *Moon Music*, which topped the charts after its release earlier this month.

Barcelona will debut the special shirts during their El Clasico match against Real Madrid on October 26, with the women's team, Barcelona Femeni, wearing the unique kit on November 2 when they face Eibar in Liga F.

The connection between Coldplay and Barcelona runs deep, as their song "Viva La Vida" became the team's unofficial anthem during their Treble-winning 2008-09 season.

Only 1,899 of these shirts will be available, in honor of Barcelona's founding year. Additionally, 22 limited-edition glow-in-the-dark jerseys—11 signed by the men's starting lineup and 11 by the women's—will be sold, with all proceeds going to The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), a partner of the club since 2022.

Coldplay is the latest musical act to feature on Barcelona's kit, following previous collaborations with Drake and The Rolling Stones.

In a statement, the band said: "We’re honored that Spotify has chosen to feature our *Moon Music* design on FC Barcelona’s shirt. We’ve had a special connection with both the city and the club for years. We're also proud to support the UNHCR in their vital work to protect refugees around the world. A big thanks to Spotify and FC Barcelona for making this possible."

Juli Guiu, FC Barcelona's VP of Marketing, expressed excitement about the partnership, saying: "We’re thrilled that through our collaboration with Spotify, Coldplay will be part of the FC Barcelona shirt for El Clásico. The bond between the band and the club has grown over many years, from their visits to training sessions to Barça players attending Coldplay's concerts in Barcelona, and their music soundtracking some of the club’s greatest moments."
