ABBA: The new album "Voyage" is released

November 09, 2021

ABBA's record return culminates with the release of the new album "Voyage".
Almost four decades after their last official release, the beloved Swedish band ABBA is finally back in action with "Voyage".

"Voyage" is a revolutionary concert and a brand new album by ABBA, one of the most successful pop band of all time.

For the first time in 40 years, Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad return to the stage to appear as digital avatars accompanied by a live ten-member orchestra.

Voyage's concert tour will begin on May 27, 2022 at the ABBA Arena, a state-of-the-art 3,000-seat stage at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London.

The digital versions of ABBA were created after months of recording the band members' performances by a group of 850 people from Industrial Light & Magic, the company founded by George Lucas, in its first music venture.

The groundwork for ABBA's new album "Voyage", which was recorded at Benny Ulvaeus's Riksmixningsverket in Stockholm, was paved last September with the original songs "I Still Have Faith In You" and "Don't Shut Me Down", two tracks that the band's fans all over the world have been looking forward to in recent years.

"Just A Notion" was also unveiled two weeks ago, a song first recorded by ABBA in the summer of 1978 but never released.

"It's been a long time since we made music together. Almost 40 years, to be exact. We took a break in the spring of 1982 and now we have decided it's time to end it. "They say it's daring to wait more than 40 years to release an album, so we recorded the sequel to 'The Visitors,'" ABBA commented.

"To tell the truth, the main inspiration to record again comes from our participation in creating the strangest and most spectacular concert you could ever dream of. We will be able to sit in the audience and watch our digital selves perform our songs on stage at a specially designed event venue in London next spring. "Strange and wonderful!", They continue.

"To all of you who have patiently followed us in one way or another over the last few decades: Thank you for waiting - it's time to embark on a new journey. We just call it "Voyage" and really sail on uncharted waters. With the help of our younger selves, we travel into the future. It is not easy to explain it, but on the other hand it has not happened again ", they emphasize.

Benny Andersson says: "It's hard to say what was the most enjoyable thing for me on this album. Whether it is participating in the creation of the concert together with everyone or the fact that we were together again in the studio after 40 years. I think it 's hard to get over the fact that I heard Frida and Agnetha sing again. When you come to the "ABBA Arena" you will see the four of us, along with a completely glamorous ten-member band. And even if we are not in the flesh, we will be right there, thanks to the work of the creative team and ILM. "

Anni-Frid Lyngstad recalls: "Those first dates in 2018 were so much fun and when Benny called and asked if I would like to sing again, I immediately seized the opportunity! And what songs! My respect and love to these extremely talented, truly genius songwriters! What a joy it was to work with the band again. I am so happy with what we have created and I very much hope that our fans will feel the same ".

Agnetha Fältskog says: “When we met again in the studio, I had no idea what to expect. But Benny's recording studio is such a friendly and safe environment and before I knew it, I was really enjoying it! "I can hardly believe that at last, the time has come to share this with the world!"

Björn Ulvaeus states: "They are such amazing singers (Agnetha and Anni-Frid) that I was completely speechless by the way they performed these songs. They are real musicians, they are not impressed at all by the glamor of pop stars, but they still have a great time and are creative in a recording studio. "Voyage has breathed new life into us in more than one way."

"So, again, thank you for waiting! We hope to see you at "ABBA Arena" because we have infused a large part of our soul in these avatars. "It is no exaggeration to say that we are back," ABBA concludes.
