Gianfranco Giotta is the eldest son of Gianna and Ida Giotta, who immigrated to California from Italy in 1951, settling down in San Fransisco. His parents opened the "Caffe Trieste" there, which has now three branches in California. Coming from a family of musicians, Gianfranco first pursued a musical career as a singer before eventually deciding to go into the family business.
